Nippersink Public Library District

Trustees of the Nippersink Public Library District (NPLD) in Richmond, IL are looking for an innovative, community-focused new Director. A small library with big ideas, NPLD serves 11,188 people living in Richmond, Belden, Spring Grove and the surrounding areas.  The $815,000 budget supports 11 staff and robust programming for preschoolers and seniors. The next Director will work to improve programming targeting different age ranges and offered during different times of the day.   Filling a key vacancy will allow the chosen leader to have an almost immediate impact on the team they lead and the services the Library provides.

The library building is well maintained

with an upgrade of the passenger elevators scheduled for upgrading before the end of the year being the most recent project.  The Board recently commissioned a facilities assessment study to guide future projects.  A strategic plan to similarly guide library services will be a priority for the new director.

Other goals will likely include expanded programming, further community outreach, and establishing point-of-need services.  The foundation for much of this is in place through a strong team of front-line staff  who pride themselves on their cultivated connections with patrons.

The Director reports to a 7-member

elected Board of Trustees with a long, productive tradition of working hand-in-glove with their director. Minimum qualifications for the position include a Master’s Degree in Library Science from an ALA-accredited program with 5 years of related work and 3 years of supervisory experience.

Nippersink's next Director must have top-notch communication skills and promote professional development.

NPLD is located

Salary, Benefits & How to Apply

This is a full-time, exempt position with a minimum annual salary offer of $81,000, with some flexibility for professional achievements. The Library also offers a generous benefits package including paid holidays; vacation, personal, and sick days; medical, dental and life insurance; and participation in the much sought-after Illinois Municipal Retirement Fund.
